Architectural design

Aquagrand's two-story stone and wood buildings seamlessly blend with the area's natural beauty, extending gracefully to the sea. Information about Lindos

The gorgeous traditional hilltop village of Lindos, on the crossroads of Eastern Mediterranean civilizations, is inviting visitors to feel the unique charm of another era. Whitewashed idyllic houses, local gray stone and the imposing Acropolis create a unique atmosphere of past grandeur. When the sun sets, the reflection on the buildings and the glow of the orange and red in the cliffs can be truly spectacular.

"Its beauty is of scrupulous Aegean order, and perfect in its kind. Everything is painted white a dazzling glitter of plaster and white wash, so that if you close your eyes you might imagine the snowy reflections of a passing cloud" as the famous British writer, Laurence Durrell, wrote in his book "Reflections on a Marine Venus".

In Lindos, the mixture of Greek, Medieval, Byzantine and Arabic influences created an exceptional architectural style of houses, the so called “Lindian House". The crown jewels of the traditional Lindian architecture are the Captains' Manor Houses of 16th, 17th and 18th century.

The exquisite decorative details, such as pebbled mosaic courtyards, elaborately painted ceilings, multicolored Lindian ceramics, wooden divans covered with hand woven rugs and the artfully displayed bridal embroidery make the houses of Lindos unique.

The entrance of the house, crowned by elaborate arches, decorated with carved popular patterns, leads onto the pebbled mosaic courtyard. Situated around the courtyard are different areas, the formal house, separated by the stone arch, the kitchen, the oven and other outbuildings.

A stone staircase in the courtyard leads to the Captain's Room, traditionally built above the arched entrance. This room was a small area with a lot of windows, from which the Captain observed the sea. It was designed only for the head of the family, who stayed there whenever he was not traveling.

A stone wall surrounds the entire property, in order to protect the inhabitants from strong Aegean winds and inquisitive eyes.

Cradled on the edge of the village you will find the picturesque St Paul's bay, a retreat for soul and body, with the small chapel, reminiscent of the visit of Apostle Paul in to Lindos.

Beach

The secluded hotel beach is sandy and pebbled, equipped with comfortable loungers, compli mentary for our guests. Please do not leave your personal belongings on the beach beds during the night. The beach security staff will collect all belongings found on the beds.

Exit signs exist in every floor and will lead you to the fire escapes, but in the unfortunate event of thick smoke you might find it difficult to locate them. For this reason, please read carefully the following information: The floor plan is situated behind your room door. Note the closest emergency exit. Count the doors between your door and the emergency exit. Note where the fire extinguishers as well as the red alarm boxes in the corridor, are located. Make sure to understand the function of the air conditioning switches in your room (ON-OFF)

BASIC INSTRUCTIONS
Activate the fire alarm immediately by breaking the protective glass. First, close your room door and then head towards the emergency exit. In case you are not able to leave your room, close your door and call Reception immediately. Do not use the elevators.
IF THERE IS FIRE IN YOUR ROOM
- Turn the air conditioning in your room off. - Evacuate the room at once. - Secure the door shut. - Activate the alarm box and inform nearby rooms. - Do not use the elevator.
IF YOU HEAR THE FIRE ALARM
Move carefully.
Touch the door with the back of your hand. If the door is hot, do not open it.
If the door is not hot, do open it carefully but be prepared to shut it again immediately if needed. If possible head to the closest emergency exit.
If the emergency exit is blocked, try an exit on the opposite direction.
Do not use the elevator.
